Cognitive dysfunction can be devastating to a family that has to plan their lives around a dysfunctional adult or child. A child that stays a child for life will need continual support to live a meaningful life. It is difficult for many to understand this unless they have had to take care of an elderly parent with cognitive dysfunctions. It does not have to be this way.
