Emergency - Introduction
Introduction The terrible events of September 11th, 2001, have heightened America's awareness of vulnerability. Biological and chemical warfare and radiation poisoning are filling headlines and TV news stories in frightening ways. People often feel that such forms of terrorism mean certain death. This is not the full story. Do you know that there are available resources for you to use in these situations? We do not have to give up and think that we will die within a short time if exposed to acts of violence. We have alternatives. This series of articles describe how to counteract the effects of terrorism with Homeopathy. People have used homeopathy successfully in epidemics and other severe emergencies in the past. The effectiveness of homeopathic treatments have been studied, documented and published. Not only does homeopathy work against biological and chemical toxins, the effects of earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, volcanic eruptions, and epidemic diseases also respond to homeopathy. Homeopathic medicines are called remedies. Remedies are chosen either for prophylaxis (before symptoms appear) or for actual symptoms that appear. This is different from the methods of treatment we use in Western medicine where the treatment is given based on the disease or chemical to which we are exposed. Emergencies may be approached homeopathically in two ways: 1) Create a kit with 12 (or more) basic remedies, or 2) Make use of those remedies you have on hand at the time of the emergency. With a prepared kit we can be more accurate in selecting remedies that fit the symptoms we experience. If a kit hasn't been prepared and remedies are available, either select a remedy that best matches the symptoms or select one that has worked for you in the past. We recommend you prepare a kit. BACKGROUND Homeopathy is a nontoxic form of medicine that was developed 200 years ago. The Homeopathic Formulary is one of only two forms of medicine officially recognized by the Congress of the United States. Homeopathy means "Like cures Like". Minute amounts of a substance that can cause symptoms, when transformed homeopathically, can be used to treat the same symptom. For example, Belladonna, a common poisonous plant, provokes thirst, irritability, burning sore throat and a high fever with restlessness if taken in its pure form by a healthy person. However, if taken in its homeopathic form, Belladonna can be used to cure someone who is suffering from these symptoms. If we choose a "wrong" remedy for what ails us, it won't help, yet it will not harm us. If the remedy is the correct one or a close match, it balances the human body for a quick and natural return to health. NOTE: Do not consider Homeopathy to be a substitute for regular medical emergency and preventative practices. Homeopathic remedies, regular emergency medicine and preventative practices work TOGETHER. Smallpox is a viral disease unique to humans. To sustain itself, the virus must pass from person to person in a continuing chain of infection and is spread by inhalation of air droplets or aerosols. Twelve to 14 days after infection, the patient typically becomes febrile and has severe aching pains and prostration. Some 2 to 3 days later, a papular rash develops over the face and spreads to the extremities. The rash soon becomes vesicular and later, pustular. The patient remains febrile throughout the evolution of the rash and customarily experiences considerable pain as the pustules grow and expand. Gradually, scabs form, which eventually separate, leaving pitted scars. Death usually occurs during the second week. |
