Hair, Nails and Skin are made up of many compounds such as vitamins, minerals, amino acids and other compounds that the body manufacturers.

Hair: A filament of keratin consisting of a root and a shaft formed in a specialized follicle in the epidermis. There are three stages of hair development: anagen, the active growing stages of hair development; catagen, a short interlude between the growth and resting phase; and telogen, the resting, or club stage before shedding. Scalp hair grows at an average rate of 1 mm every 3 days, body and eyebrow hair at a much slower rate. Hair plucking does not stop hair growth.

Nails: The fingernails protect the nerve-rich fingertips from injury. Nails are composed of protein, keratin, and sulfur. The nail bed is the skin on top of which the nails grow. Nails grow from .05 to 1.2 millimeters a week. Nail changes or abnormalities are often the results of nutritional deficiencies or specific conditions.

Skin: The skin is the body’s largest organ. It consists of three layers—the epidermis (outer layer), the dermis (middle layer), and the subcutaneous layer (inner layer). Because the skin acts as a shield between the body and the millions of foreign substances that exist in our environment, it often reacts with acne, rashes, bumps, scales, redness, and other skin problems. Skin irritations are characterized by scaling, flaking, thickening, color changes, itching, cracking, and dryness. The skin excretes toxins and poisons that are present in the body, as do the kidneys and bowels.

Methionine: L-Methionine is not synthesized in the body, and must be obtained from food sources or from dietary supplements. In addition to being a good source of sulfur, L-Methionine is important in the treatment of rheumatic fever and toxemia resulting from pregnancy. It assists in the breakdown of fats, preventing the build-up of fat in the liver and arteries, which obstructs blood flow to the brain, heart, and kidneys. This amino acid helps the digestive system, interact with other substances to detoxify harmful agents, aids muscle weakness, helps to prevent brittle hair, and is beneficial for allergic chemical sensitivities and osteoporosis. Cysteine and taurine may rely on methionine for synthesis in the body.

Lysine: As an essential building block for all proteins, the amino acid L-Lysine is needed for proper growth and bone development in children. It helps calcium absorption and maintains nitrogen balance in adults. Among the many functions of this amino acid.

Iron: Low Serum Iron - Iron deficiency occasionally produces hair loss. Some people don't have enough iron in their diets or may not fully absorb iron. Women who have heavy menstrual periods may develop iron deficiency. Low iron can be detected by laboratory tests and can be corrected by taking a proper type of iron pills such as a brand called Hemaplex.

Nicotinic Acid: Conversely, nicotinic acid has also found favor as a hair loss preventative; its chief attribute being its effect as a vasodilator. Another active ingredient being used, with reported success, in hair loss preventative therapy is retina-A, the active ingredient used in many skin rejuvenation (wrinkle-retardant) formulations.

Biotin: functions as an essential cofactor for four enzymes. They are involved in the following functions.

Biotin is essential for carbohydrate metabolism and in the synthesis of fatty acids. It also helps incorporate amino acids into protein. Healthy hair and nails require biotin.

Biotin can be used to treat frail, splitting or thin fingernails and to improve hair condition in cases where there is a deficiency.Biotin may improve hair health through its action on the metabolism of scalp oils.

Calcium Pantothenate: Important for the health and growth of hair, skin and nails.

Folic Acid: Necessary for DNA & RNA synthesis, which is essential for the growth and reproduction of all body cells; essential to the formation of red blood cells by its action on the bone marrow; aids in amino acid metabolism. Helps to prevent pre-mature gray hair.

Kelp: Helps promote healthier, shinier hair. Helps grow hair if the hair follicle is alive. Helps grow longer, stronger nails. Helps improve dry skin problems.

Calcium Linoleate: Ideal For Men And Women With: Hair / Nail Problems. Improve existing hair. Renew Lustre and Sheen. May strengthen nails.

Inositol: Necessary for the formation of lecithin; aids in the breakdown of fats; helps reduce blood cholesterol; helps prevent thinning hair.

P-aminobenzoic Acid: Aids healthy bacteria in producing folic acid; aids in the formation of red blood cells; contains sun screening properties; aids in the assimilation of Pantothenic acid; returns hair to its natural color.

Note: Taking higher milligrams of these ingredients will not speed up the results of this formula.
